It’s seven year itch time!  Yes, this is the seventh edition of The Red Book.  The challenge each year is to make it better, and by ‘better’ we mean more relevant to you the reader.  This year we have added more statistics, more professional articles and we have even done some “ancient history” research with Hayden interviewing the two agents responsible for the sales at Sandy Lane Estate in the 1960s.  I think you will find that article both informative and entertaining.

We are very honored to feature an article about renowned architect Larry Warren on the changing face of architecture along the West Coast.  Larry’s article is a must-read that I suspect will be referred to by many in years to come.  In the past we have used this space in The Red Book to profile a developer who has chosen Barbados for investment. This year we thought it fitting to hear from an architect who has served many of those developers and who has both been affected by the changes and effected the changes. No escaping your responsibility, Larry!

Our residential property management team has put together an article on the revenue and costs from short-term rentals. We have always told the story as it is, this year we tell the story in a manner that hopefully, all can appreciate through graphs and statistics.  We have encountered very few owners who do not look back on their villa investment with great pride, financial success and enjoyment.

Finally, we have great pleasure in expanding our Terra Luxury pages with our partners Knight Frank. We appreciate the addition of an article by Paddy Dring, Head of International Residential Markets for Knight Frank. Paddy has a unique view of residential markets worldwide with Knight Frank’s stated goal of representing the top 5% of properties in the top 10% of markets in the world. We are very pleased to be among such markets and associated with this leading Global Brand. We also do not mind that they chose red as their corporate colours. We think we like how it matches our colours.

I do hope that you will enjoy this seventh edition. We have had a great deal of enjoyment putting it together for you. The discipline needed to review every market segment, document the complete market and present the information in a clear and concise manner, has served us very well. The itch to provide comprehensive and accurate information in a timely manner to be relevant to our clients, is as strong as ever.  We look forward to hearing your feedback and working with each of you in this year and the years to come.
